Label chemical waste containers with a waste chemical label available through EHS.
Containers are to be labeled at the time it is determined the material is waste. Chemicals in their original containers with intact labels do not need to be relabeled.
Containers used to accumulate chemical wastes are to be labeled at the time accumulation begins.
Provide all information requested on the label. Be as specific as possible in identifying the chemical composition of the waste material, using as few abbreviations as possible. Provide percentages of known chemicals in a mixture. Small bottles, less than 250 ml, may be labeled by any suitable means, which completely identifies the contents of the bottle.
All waste chemical containers are to be labeled at all times. Below is an example of the chemical waste label provided by Environmental Health and Safety.
